The Dishonest Mask of Pretend Order

There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask of pretend order, achieved by ignoring or suppressing the real order that is struggling to exist and be served. (p15)

There’s not much to add to this. It’s an incredible quote. For some reason, it makes me think of the rash of people out there that backdrop their online presence in social media marketing – the ones that are so thankful to connect and are “looking forward to discussion ideas and hearing your opinion on my blog” only to never hear from them again when you do.

It’s a beautiful line that perfectly alludes to the underlying principles of open, online education: Order Emerges & is Construed.
